Map showing relative location of antennas near Lubec. [large PDF file]
Both DKAZ were 'guyed', at the end of nearly 800' of coax, used Wellbrook FLG100 'head ends' and were terminated with 890 Ohms.
The BOG was fed with 50' of coax and a K1FZ KB5 beverage transformer. Rental vehicle was parked overnight in a small cul-de-sac at the end of Bar Road.
Here is a table showing the dB reading from the Perseus s-meter taken on Nov. 10, 2014 around 8AM. They are for a shorted Rt and DKAZ1 with the derived Rt of 890 Ohms.
The number in [ ] is the difference in terminated and shorted dB - the 'null' - and a value of 30 - 40 dB is quite good.
The last column, 'DKAZ1 v. DKAZ2' is the difference in dB between the two identical antennas with the same Rt. Note the large differences - not only between each other but also between the readings for DKAZ1 taken an hour or so earlier!
I should've redone the readings for 'short' on both antennas before taking their relative nulled f/s but ran out of gas. For that reason I'm just showing them as a ratio. You can see there's a fairly constant 10dB difference.
Signals in the forward direction were comparable with DKAZ2 having a slight edge on pure TA signal strength at night. Thus, DKAZ2 was used for all Perseus recordings ... with 10dB attenuation, in most cases, to keep down domestic station splash.
